Driver Shortage…Or Setup?

The old school drivers have been warning us about this for years.

Now, it’s unfolding before us.

Thousands of CDL schools are being wiped off the map.
Some states threatened with losing their highway funds and grants.
10,000+ driver’s licenses are now under review and at risk of being cancelled

Now, suddenly, these same people who let this mess grow for almost 10 years, are painting themselves as heroes while claiming there’s ‘DRIVER SHORTAGE’.

I’ll take a closer look at what ‘I believe’ is going on.

The Numbers They Don’t Want You To See

Nearly 50% of the U.S. trucking schools have been dodging the rules for years. Drivers have known this for a long time.

And now?

Suddenly, Washington “discovers” this all of a sudden!

Then they have this knee-jerk reaction and start yanking CDL’s from thousands and thousands of drivers!

A funny thing though.

Drivers have been complaining about the CDL mills grinding out underqualified drivers in a matter of weeks, crappy training and CDL’s handed out to drivers who couldn’t even come close to being competent drivers.

And yet suddently, what’s going on is UNSAFE and FRADULENT?

Hmmmm…. something here is rotten, I think.

What convenient timing, I must say.

Non-Domiciled CDL’S: The SH** Hits the Fan

It’s not just the schools that are being slapped around.

The feds are cracking down on licenses that should not even exist.

States that were dishing out CDL’s to people who didn’t qualify or not even LIVE THERE, are being stripped of their license and being penalized.

California, Minnesota, and a few others have been instructed to review and possibly take away CDL’s from large numbers of drivers.

Why all of a sudden is this happending when it’s been common knowledge among the truckers for many years?

They Ignored the Rot And Then Grabbed a Sledgehammer

The FMCSA let all this crap slide for years.

There were a large number of CDL mills pumping out large numbers of low skilled drivers. It was rare to ever see a license suspension.

But since a recent horrible truck crash which was linked to licensing which was iffy, did the powers that be pay attention.

So, now the FMCSA decides, overnight, they’re going to kick out all of these cruddy training facilities and now look like the good guys?

Why did the powers that be tolerate this?

Could it be they tolerated it, until they could use it for their political advantage?

Are They REALLY Fixing a Problem or Just Creating the Shortage?

So far we have:

1000’s of CDL schools shut down
Large numbers of CDL’s under review or cancelled
New and improved rules that make it easier to pull drivers off the road, in an instant

By removing the shoddy CDL training schools and yanking CDL’S from even a small number of drivers, the workforce of truck drivers would shrink even more!

However, don’t forget what the powers that be, already have up their sleeves:

Autonomous trucks
Mega Carrier Training (exclusive)
Labour programs controlled by the Feds

2 Things Every Driver Needs to See

Poor training and fraudulent practices were happening. That’s a fact. An overhaul of truck driver training was badly needed. There was never a doubt about that. Every driver knew it.
The timing of this HEROIC CLEANUP is just WAY too convenient. They ignored the mess as it grew exponentially and then decided to beat it down JUST OVERNIGHT? Hmmm. I see this as WAY MORE than just fixing a problem. I see it as a well though out, well planned move.

What’s In Store For Truck Drivers

Students in CDL training stuck half way through a program, because their school was shut down.
Many drivers must either be retested or present correct(ed) documents.
The mega carrier training companies are taking over control, to gain market share of driver training as the small schools are shoved out of the game.

How to Protect Yourself as a Driver

Always keep all your documents and paperwork in order and and up-to-date.
Keep an eye on your state DMV. Watch them like ‘a hawk’
If you’re in the market for driver training, look for a credible CDL school and not participate in the mega carrier training
Question the “driver shortage” narrative when ever you have the chance. This issue just didn’t come out of the blue. They let it rot until the time was right to fix it, to serve ‘their needs’.
